Modern Fragment is a quarterly about Gulf culture — the sea, the houses, the food, the arguments. The founders had the writers. They needed the object.
The brief
Design a magazine people keep on the coffee table, not the recycling pile: a masthead, a grid, a type system and a print spec that could survive four issues a year on an independent budget.

The design
A generous grid that lets photography breathe, a serif for the long reads and a tight grotesk for everything that has to be quick. Terracotta and navy come from the coral-stone houses and the sea between them; every issue changes its second colour.
It reads like the Gulf feels. Slow, warm and a little stubborn.
